In the commemoration of the National Day, the ambassador of I.R. of Iran made a speech on the principles and positions of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic in the regional and international dimensions, as well as bilateral relations between Iran and czechia.

Excellencies, distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen

At the outset, I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to all of you that have graciously accepted my invitation to attend the National Day of my country, as well as to commemorate the more than a centenary of relations between Iran and Czechia.

Today marks more than forty-seven years since the people of Iran, following several months of entirely peaceful and inclusive public demonstrations by the main slogans of freedom and independence, laid the foundations of a new political system through a nationwide and direct referendum.

The structure of Iran’s foreign policy is shaped through preservation of independence from foreign intervention, territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and the well-being of the Iranian people.

In regional level, the Islamic Republic of Iran by the adoption of a constructive neighborhood policy firmly believe regional stability and security can be strengthened through the inclusive participation of all countries of the region.
In this context, Iran consistently emphasizes the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and considers the continuation of occupation, and violations of international law in Palestine as vital factors for instability in the Middle East.

At the international level, while rejecting all forms of domination, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers itself as responsible states and is committed to international law and multilateral cooperation, and views dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the primary means of advancing international peace and security. At the same time, it remains resolute in safeguarding its sovereignty and national security and in defending itself against any form of aggression.

Distinguished Guests,

Regrettably, despite Iran’s continued commitment to diplomatic engagement, the government and people of Iran, in the course of diplomatic negotiations last spring, were confronted with an unjustified military attack by two nuclear-armed states. This resulted in significant human casualties and heavy destruction to public infrastructure extending beyond military objectives and nuclear facilities which were under tough verification measures.

Furthermore, last months, peaceful public demonstrations related to economic conditions—which is largely effected by unilateral external economic sanctions—were diverted from their original course led to organized violence and terrorist activities, accompanied by acknowledged external pressure and interference. These events resulted the tragic loss of many civilian lives, including members of law enforcement. Iranian society nowadays in mourn the loss of its citizens as a result of these highly destructive and coordinated acts.
Within this framework, the Islamic Republic of Iran, fully cognizant of its obligations under international human rights norms, exercised maximum restraint in addressing the unrest, while at the same time fulfilling its fundamental responsibility to preserve public order, national security, and the safety of its citizens.

Excellencies,

It is my honor to note that, this year marks the one-hundredth anniversary of the presentation of credentials by the first resident Iran’s ambassador to the late President of Czechoslovakia, Edvard Beneš. Beyond this, relations between Iran and the Czech lands in political, economic, and cultural fields extend back well over a century. Czechoslovak industrial companies were present in Iran for many decades. Recently, a documentary publication ,supported by the Czech Ministry of Culture, has further documented this shared history.

Distinguished Guests,

Cultural exchanges between the two nations in the fields of literature, arts, and academic ties, also dated back more than a century. During my tenure in Prague, several documentations on the literary and artistic exchanges between the two peoples also be published by an Iranian researcher based in Prague.

Based on that, seventy years ago, in 1956, the renowned Iranian master of miniature painting, the late Hossein Behzad, organized one of the most significant exhibitions of Iranian miniature art in Prague, accompanied by educational workshops.

Following that historical event, this evening, I also have the honor of introducing another distinguished contemporary figure of Iranian visual arts, the late Master Mohammud Farshchian. Although he passed away last year, a selection of his outstanding works is presented to you around this hall tonight . Master Farshchian based his education in both Iran and Europe, developed a distinctive and innovative style in contemporary Iranian painting through the harmonious integration of authentic Iranian and Islamic artistic traditions with European artistic influences.

Iranian miniature painting is closely interwoven with another Persian arts as poetry, literature, calligraphy and traditional performing arts. Accordingly, I am also honored to invite you shortly to experience one of Iran’s most revered traditional performing arts—Shahnameh recitation. The Shahnameh, composed by Ferdowsi over a millennium ago, is the most enduring epic literary work of Iran and a cornerstone of the Persian language. The recitation of the Shahnameh, traditionally accompanied by the percussion instrument, represents one of the most deeply rooted cultural traditions of Iran, transmitting epic and ethical values across generations.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In the upcoming performance, lasting approximately 15 minutes, you will be introduced to an episode from the epic narrative of The Seven Labors of Rostam, performed by two masters of Iran’s traditional naqqāli art, accompanied by the display of selected miniature paintings by the said late Master Mahmoud Farshchian.
I will conclude my remarks here and invite you to enjoy the Shahnameh recitation, followed by a visit to the exhibition of Master Farshchian’s works.
